GDC crowned champs of State level U-13 football

Imphal, January 22 2017:
GDC, Thinungei today beat IMA FC, Iramsiphai 3-2 in the final of the 1st H Biro and H Brojen Memorial State level U-13 football tournament organised by AMOFA Academy under the sponsorship of Thangjing Hardware, Moirang Bazar at Moirang Multipurpose Hr Sec school ground, Moirang.
L Subhas Singh's brace helped GDC, Thinungei surmount challenge from IMA FC, Iramsiphai, who rallied from two goals behind, in the title clash of the tournament.
The thrilling final match today saw both sides giving their best to win the title.
Even as IMA FC, Iramsiphai took time to settle, GDC scored two goals within the first 12 minutes.

N Dhanaraj Singh handed the lead to GDC through his goal in the second minute.
In a span of ten minutes from the first goal, GDC extended the lead as L Subhas netted one brilliant goal in the 11th minute.
Gogocha Chungkham pulled one back for IMA FC in the 16th minute.
GDC dominated again but a defensive error in the 26th minute gave IMA FC the opening and Chanambam Angamba scored their second goal to tie the match 2-2 .
Even as both sides pushed hard to find the winner, the remaining part of the first half saw the two teams wasting some chances.
L Subhas Singh struck his second goal in the 44th minute that gave GDC the 3-2 lead.
The two sides made frenzied attempts to keep the match in their command in the second half launching raids against each others' territories.
However, GDC held on to the 3-2 lead till the final whistle to clinch the maiden title of the tournament.
The winners got richer by Rs 20,000.They were also presented a trophy.
The runners up received Rs 10,000 and a trophy.
W John Singh of GDC was adjudged the best player and best scorer award was presented to Th Priyaball of IMA FC.
The best goalkeeper award was given to Yaiphaba of IMA FC while Md Zaheer Khan of Mini Boys, Kwakta was adjudged the best defender.
They were presented Rs 1000 and a trophy each.
The closing ceremony was attended by M Romibala Devi, Chairperson, MMC; M Basanta Singh, Vice-Chairperson, MMC; L Chitramani, Councillor of Ward No 1; H Romabala, Councillor of Ward No 2; Ph Ibemcha, Councillor of W No 3; N Ibomcha, Councillor of Ward No 4; M Madhabi, Councillor of W No 5; Ph Premila, Councillor of Ward No 6; H Bisheswori, Councillor of Ward No 7; M Premila, Councillor of Ward No 8; M Bina , Councillor of W No 10 and K Memthoi, Councillor of Ward No 11 as the dignitaries.
