SBI distributes coins to vendors of Khwairamband

The State Bank of India (SBI), Paona Bazaar branch in collaboration with Imphal Municipal Council (IMC) today distributed changes in the form of coins to the vendors of Khwairamband Ima Keithel.
The function for distribution of coins started at around 10 am in the Khwairamband Ima Keithel number I.A total of Rs 5 lakhs in the form of coins were distributed among the vendors and shopkeepers of Imphal market.
75 thousand rupees of 1 rupee coin, 3 lakh rupees of 2 rupee coins and 1.5 lakh rupees of 5 rupee coins were made available to the people today.
The 1 rupee coins were wrapped in bags each having an amount of Rs 2500; 2 rupee coins in bags of Rs 5000 each and 5 rupee coins in bags of Rs 12,500 each and made available to the public for their conveniences.
Speaking to media persons on the sideline of the function, Subhajit Dey, Chief Manager, SBI, Paona Bazaar Branch said that distribution of changes in the form of coins have been made available to the vendors and the shopkeepers of Imphal market considering the problems faced by them while carrying on with their business transaction with customers following shortage of small change.
The distribution of coins would also be carried out in different parts of the state, he assured.
N Raghumani, Chairperson, IMC who was also present on the occasion, expressed hope that the problem of change faced by the public as well as the shopkeepers in the event of selling and purchasing of goods would be reduced to some extent.
The move taken up by SBI is indeed praiseworthy, he added.
