Lamyanba Irabot remembered across the State

United Club IMC ward number 4 Uripok organised the 6th spot painting competition in connection with the 123rd birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot at Lainingthou Eshing Chaiba Laibung, Nagamapal today.
Publicity secretary of the club Nambam Chingthang said that students from class 3 to 8 took part in the competition.
Meanwhile, as a part of the 123rd birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irawat, the Cultural Forum Manipur organised the release function of 'Ritu' and poetry book consisting of select Indian poems translated into Manipuri, as well as a discussion on the UK and Europe trip of Prof Thoidingjam Tomba, at Manipur College auditorium hall today.
The participants paid floral tributes to the portrait of Hijam Irawat during the event.
Dr Rajkumar Radhakeshor Singh, Principal of Manipur College, Professor Huirem Bihari Singh, president of the Cultural Forum Manipur, attended the event as the presidium members.
In connection with the 123rd birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot, a social service camp was organised by Irabot Day Organising Committee Lilong along with CSOs and Lilong PS personnel at the surrounding areas of Lilong Bazar today.
On the other hand, Lilong Apapti Social Advancement Club organised an awareness programme cum meritorious award distribution at Arapti market shed.
In a seperate event, Dalit Sahitya Academy Manipur kicked off a year long observance of Hijam Irabot & Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Dr BR Ambedkar 2019 at Manipur Press Club today.
Former MP of Lok Sabha, Dr T Meina graced the function as the chief guest while Japanese Hospital Manipur president Rajen Ayangba attended as functional president, Unified Dalit Sahitya Academy Nepal president Laxman Bardewa as distinguished guest, Dalit Sahitya Academy Assam general secretary Rajual Sheikh as special guest and National secretary, Bhratiya Dalit Sahitya Academy New Delhi Yumnam Mohendrakumar, general secretary Unified Dalit Writer Forum Nepal Durga Boraili, Padmashree awardee Waikhom Gojen as guest of honour.
The function was organised to pay tribute to Lamyanba Hijam Irabot and Dr BR Ambedkar, who are both social reformers.
Numerous functions were organised at various parts of the State to make the people aware of the ways in which these leaders contributed and strove to bring development in the country.
On the other hand, Ibudhou Luwangpokpa Nupi Lup along with Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Y Yumnam Khemchand carried out a social service followed by tree plantation drive at Chingamakha Luwang Pokpa Model Club as part of the birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot, said a press release issued by secretary of the Lup.
