Longest green salad prepared at Chinjak Festival
Attempted to get into Limca Book of Records

Innovative Youth Society and Nahakpam Foods and Beverages 'Boss juices' - the organisers of the ongoing Chinjak Festival 2012, attempted to register their names into Limca Book of Records by preparing a 100 metres long green salad at the festival venue at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen today.
Fifteen salad decorators took 90 odd minutes in preparing the salad mainly comprised of neatly sliced cucumbers, cabbages, tomatoes, water melons, onions, coriander leaves, cheese, mint leaves and other green, leafy vegetables as ingredients.
The six-inch wide salad was put on display on a long strip of neatly knitted and designed banana leaves strip which spread on over 40 tables.
"We put all salad ingredients-cucumber, cabbage,tomato, water melon, onion, coriander, cheese, mint leaves and added spices-and the total weight of these ingredients over 700 kgs," said Khuraijam Athouba, managing director of the festival.
"Our target to prepare the longest salad in the country is not only get an attempt to incorporate it in Limca Book of Records but also to promote tourism industry in Manipur," Athouba said.
Officials of Manipur Tourism Department headed by Commissioner KK Chhetry present at the festival as official witnesses of the giant salad.
"We have also documented the whole process of preparing the green salad right and the same would be sent to Limca Book of Records officials ," he said.
After display, the salad was opened for free test to all the visitors coming from across the State.
Fifty four stalls including seven South East Asian countries - Thailand, Com-bodia, Loas, Hong Kong, China, Tibet and Singapore with 160 different indigenous cuisines and 40 international dishes - pulled large number of visitors in the 10-day Chinjak Festival which began on Apr 20 .
