Naga script software launched in Tamenglong

A Naga script software was inaugurated today in a function at the Auditorium of United Builders School, Tamenglong.
Dr Adui, General Secretary of Zeliangrong Baptist Church Council, SR Das, and Pr Dennis Guisinang, Chairman, Development Committee on Naga Script (DCNS) were chief guest, guest of honour and president of the function respectively.
The Naga script learning centre was opened at Tamenglong district HQs during the tenure of Sumant Singh, IAS, DC Tamenglong.
With the advancement of scientific technology the DCNS has left behind the learning centre and gone further to develop a software, said Kalotdi Kamei General Secretary DCNS.
Late Laokeinang Phaomei son of Nungnang (Luangreng) village of Nungba sub-division was said to have developed the Naga script for the Nagas to have a common script.
He was a pioneer Christian leader who was chased out from his village for converting villagers to Christianity.
Recalling the founder of the Naga script, his son, Ph Khiaklung said that his father was the only educated person in his village.
During the Naga nationalist movement Late Laokeinang Phaomei was made interpreter to communicate with leaders from Nagaland.
The Indian army arrested him and he was jailed in Imphal for being an informer.
While in jail, he said, God revealed to him a wonderful script for the Nagas.
A script would start like an egg hatching followed by others one by one and thus would the whole script come into existence, Ph Khiaklung said.
He went on to say that a Konyak from Nagaland, Jahoi Walim, had a vision where God revealed to him that the Naga script are at Tamenglong and directed him to learn the script.
Jahoi came to learn the script and opened many learning centres in Nagland.
Another Konyak, Chungmao Walim Konyak had come in 1997 to learn the script.
Prominent leaders of Zeliangrong attended the launching of the Naga script software.
