Manipur could develop trade, industries: Dr Joshi

Lok Sabha MP Murli Manohar Joshi stated here on Monday that Manipur's economy could boost if high-value natural resources of the State are leveraged in a systematic manner.
Joshi, who was here to attend a seminar on Act East Policy, was accorded a warm welcome by Manipur BJP leaders during a reception programme at the party office.
Speaking on the occasion, he stated that Manipur is gifted with abundant natural resources which has huge potential for enhancing the State economy by leveraging them systematically.
Joshi, who is also the chairman of the Estimate Committee of Lok Sabha, said the State of Manipur is the strategic point connecting India with South East Asian countries by road.
"Improving the road connectivity of the State is a much-needed task" .
He said Manipur will attract investors if its connectivity and law and order situation are improved, adding that the entire North East region will become a very important destination after practical introduction of the East Act Policy.
"The Centre is committed to bringing development for the region," Dr Joshi said.
Dr Joshi acknowledged that the law and order situation in the State of Sikkim is good and hence the financial condition of this State is also healthy enough.
State BJP president Th Chaoba, general secretary Ashwinikumar, general secretary (organization) S Premananda and national BJP executive council member Tapir Gaon attended the function on the dais.
