Locals storm Police Station over rape of girl stuent

Imphal, June 21 2013 :
Locals of Yairipok Changamdabi today stormed Yairipok Police Station demanding the police to find out the culprits in the rape case of a girl student.
Prior to storming the Police Station, the locals held a public meeting at Kangla Ukok Memorial School, Yairipok condemning the rape of a girl student after being abducted by some persons from the premises of Universal College on June 19 .
The meeting resolved to bring up the case to the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister and launch stern agitations along with the support of various clubs and organizations.
According to police, some 200 people stormed at the Yairipok PS.
The police fired tear gas shells and also detained seven persons for some time.
Investigation of the rape case is going on full swing and three suspects have been arrested so far, the police added.
Meanwhile, Reformist Students' Front (RSP) has condemned the alleged rape of a teenage girl student after being abducted while she was on her way to obtain form for admission to BSc 1st semester on Wednesday.
In a statement, K Neipu Kom, President of RSF, demanded the state government to arrest the culprits and give befitting punishment.
