Winners in
the science exhibition, quiz
competition and debating
competition organised by the
office of the district level
committee Rashtriya
Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan
(RAMSA), Imphal East district
were presented with prizes
during a ceremony held today at
Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace
Compound.

Singh attended the prize distri-
bution function as the chief
guest while ZEO of Imphal
East district H Jatra Singh was
the functional president.

guest of honour.
In quiz competition the first
position was bagged by
Wangkhei High School, sec-
ond by Brighter Academy and
third by St George High
School.
In debate competition which
was held on the topic "Manda-
tory speaking of English at
schools devalue mother
tongue," students of Halley
English School, Wangkhei
High School and Brighter
Academy bagged the first, sec-
ond and third position.
In the science exhibition,
students of Brighter Academy
bagged the first prize for dem-
onstrating 'fruit plucking
machine'.
The second position
was bagged by students of
Leirenjao High School in the
topic 'roof top rain water har-
vesting' and the third position
won by students of Halley
English School for their pres-
entation on 'Solar farm'.
Students from more than 20
schools of Imphal East district
participated in the science exhi-
bition, quiz competition and
debating competition.
The importance of extracur-
ricular activities in grooming a
student's career was stressed
by the chief guest.
He said that
socialization through such
competitions and cultural ex-
change programme and other
events help students develop
the feeling of oneness.
L Nandakumar said that
quiz, essay competition and
other such competition help
students in gaining more gen-
eral knowledge.
He urged
students to take part in such
competition in future with more
zeal and enthusiasm.
He added that the Gross
Enrolment Ratio (GER) of
Imphal East district is 95.8
percent while the total GER of
Manipur is 90 percent com-
pared to other states of India.
Further he urged all stake hold-
ers to prevent students from
getting dropped out of school
after class eight.
Winners of
the science exhibition quiz
competition and debating com-
petition will participate in the
State level competition which
is scheduled to be held in the
coming months .
