'International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction 2020' observed

The Department of Relief and Disaster Management has today observed the 'International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction 2020' with the theme 'Disaster Risk Governance' at 1st Mr ground today.
A disaster management training programme for police personnel was also organised as a part of the observation programme which also saw all attendees take COVID-19 awareness pledge.
The observation programme was attended by Additional Chief Secretary, Relief and Disaster Management, MH Khan as the chief guest who also stressed on the importance of acquainting the preventive measures before a disaster happens and measures to be taken up post a disaster.
Relief and Disaster Management Department, is a very small Department, however, its task is really very big and significant, he said while adding that the Department is very much prepared to impart disaster management training to all stakeholders.
The observance is indeed significant as it creates awareness about disaster management while the mock exercise will impart experience to all, he said.
The programme which was marked by mock exercises by SDRF and NDRF volunteers, was also attended by Deputy Secretary, Relief and Disaster Management Department, A Shivadas Sharma;
Director, KH Leiyaphy.
