Senapati, March 11 2015:
Poumai Naga Union (PNU), during a general assembly held on March 6 to discuss the ban issued by NSCM (IM) against PNU, has resolved to continue its support to the Naga political movement.
Addressing the ban order issued by the NSCM (IM) against PNU on February 18 as most unfortunate, the Union said it has resolved to call for civil non cooperation movement against the NSCN (IM) till the ban order is lifted.
The union said that the attempts made by western Tangkhul people, assisted by NSCN (IM), to change Thiwa Poumai villages into Tangkhul village and Thiwa Poumai people into Tangkhul people shows the highly manipulative handiwork of western Tangkhul leaders.
The NSCN (IM), it added, should not have interfered in such a petty internal matter of the people.
To the contrary of what the NSCN (IM) alleged, the western Tangkhul people have been consistently trying to forcibly seize the Thiwa Poumai's land and merge the people in the Tangkhul fold, the union added.
The union further said that the Poumai people have steadfastly resolved to defend the right of its people and the village founded by the Poumai ancestors.
The general assembly decided that in the event of any injury or death caused to any individual of the Poumai community by any organization or from any quarter, Poumai citizens will not remain silent.
In case of death of any Poumai arising out of the problem, such person shall be declared as "Poumai Martyr" by the PNU, the union resolved.
