Imphal, May 08 2016:
In connection with the abduction of excavator (JCB) operator Khumanthem Tondonba (23) s/o Kwaklei of Pukhao Naharup, a public meeting was held today at Pukhao Naharup Awang Leikai under the aegis of the United Pukhao Areas Committee and the Naharup Awang Leikai Village Development and a JAC was formed at the end of the meeting.
The joint action committee christened JAC Against Forced Abduction of Khumanthem Tondonba, Pukhao Naharup has appealed to the civil society organisations particularly Kuki human rights organisations, Kuki Mothers Association, KSO and village chiefs of Churachandpur to help the JAC in securing the safe release of the abducted man.
It was reported that Tondonba was abducted by suspected Kuki militants from Bongbal village, Singhat sub-division, Churachandpur district on May 3 .
The JAC urged the Government as well as the contractor concerned to take up all necessary measures to secure the safe release of Tondonba at the earliest.
It further appealed to the abductors to release Tondonba on humanitarian ground at the earliest.
If anything happens to Tondonba, the abductors and the State Government would be held accountable, conveyed a press release issued by the United Pukhao Areas Committee.
