Imphal, July 06 2014:
The Presidential Council meeting of the United Naga Council (UNC) has condemned the alleged use of force and violence on the Naga villages of Khangshim and St Paul's School area in Chandel district and Chingkham Rongmei village in Thoubal district by the neighbouring communities.
The publicity wing of UNC in a press release said that that they would stick to the traditional principle of respecting village or community boundaries.
They would respond to any form of aggression upon their land or their people, it added.
The JAC concerned must be responsible for any untoward incident happens, the press release cautioned.
The Council also strongly opposed the alleged attempt of the Governent of Manipur to acquire 3000 acres of land under Thanglong Minou Village Border Pillar No 74 and 76 on the pretext of developing a new town.
The Government, however, has been relentless in proceeding with the project despite the public protests held against it.
The Council asserted that they would make use of every available means to stop the arbitrary acquiring of land without the consent of the respective owners.
