Lanthungching Village celebrates golden jubilee

Lanthungching Village , which is under Kangpokp District has celebrated its golden jubilee, today.
Lok Sabha MP, Dr Lorho Pfoze; Phungyar AC MLA, K Leishiyo; Deputy Commissioners, Kangpokpi, Lalithambigai K and Noney, Hungo Warson attended the celebration as the dais members.
Speaking at the event, K Leishiyo said that tribal people are those who lived in hills/forest areas and depend on forest and it produces for survival.
All the dance, song and culture of the tribal populace are inspired from nature, especially forest, the MLA said and added that forests have played a vital role in the socio-economic and cultural life of the tribal people.
Saying that tribal population lived in the forested regions with harmony for many years and possess the very ideas to protect such ecosystem, he expressed disappointment over the shrinking sizes of forest areas due to increased deforestation and other business activities.
He also appealed all to stop killing/trapping of wild birds and animals.
While wishing the gathering a Happy New Year, Dr Lorho Pfoze assured that one Community Hill will be constructed within this year.
He also lauded the locals of Lanthungching Village for preserving their rich culture and tradition, despite locating not far from Imphal City.
As part of the observance, a monolith was unveiled and different cultural items were performed by the village's locals.
Later, the two DCs released a souvenir.
