Chamol-Sajik Tampak ambush NIA submits charge-sheets against 6

National Investigation Agency (NIA), on December 31, submitted charge sheets against 6 individuals (including 3 who are on the run) in connection with the ambush on a road opening party of 4th Assam Rifles at Chamol-Sajik Tampak road, Chandel on November 15, 2017.The charge sheets were submitted before the Special Court, NIA, Manipur, against Laishram Priyo-kumar alias Amuthoi alias Thoudam Anuthoi Singh alias Ibomcha, Thangjam Achou alias Thangjam Achan alias Rajesh alias Thoujal and Chandam Tondon alias Shileiba alias German, as well as against three individuals on the run, who have been identified as Koijam Ibochouba alias Sumo alias Kesho, Mayanglambam Siromani alias Kesper alias Casper and Thokchom Ningthemba alias Ningthem alias Feiroijamba, under various sections of the IPC and UAPA.
It may be mentioned that cadres of People's Liberation Army (PLA) and Manipur Naga People's Front (MNPF) carried out an ambush upon a road opening party (ROP) of 4th Assam Rifles at Chamol�Sajik Tampak road on November 15, 2017 killing one AR personnel and injuring another.
Two UG cadres were also killed in the ambush.
In compliance with an order of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the NIA Guwahati Branch re-registered the case after taking it over from Chakpikarong police station and during the investigation, NIA established that PLA and MNPF conspired to wage a war against the Union Government and they carried out the ambush in accordance with the said plan.
During further course of investigation, NIA identified and arrested three accused (they are presently lodged in Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa).
Among the three accused, Laishram Priyo-kumar was arrested by a team of Imphal West district police on June 12 last year.
He was formally arrested from Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa, by an NIA team on July 5 after taking due permission from the Court in connection with the case.
Further more, self styled Major of PLA / RPF Chandam Tondon was arrested on August 20.Thangjam Achan was also formally arrested in connection with the same case, from Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa (he had been lodged in judicial custody after he was arrested by Tengnoupal district police in July) .
He was formally arrested for his role in the ambush as a wireless operator and for providing call signs to the attacking team during the ambush.
