Imphal, August 29, 2012:
The Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Imphal (TKLI) has urged the State Government to look into the matter of cessation of allotment of fund to Ngayok Marup, Manipur under National Fishery Development Board (NFDB) since 2009. In a statement, TKLI said the programme under NFDB was effectively planned and executed under the then State Fishery Project Coordinator, Biramani while stating that it is highly questionable over the cessation of the programme since the change of guard in the office of the State Fishery Project Coordinator.
The TKLI statement said that the implementation and development process in the fishery department has come to a standstill since two and half years back.
Although fishery programme are widely implemented in the valley areas, the hills too have their own potentials in specific pockets where fishery programmes have been executed and can be improved from time to time, it stated.
Urging the Government to initiate bold step in securing corrective measures towards this end, the TKLI has warned of intensifying its stance against such 'unjustified' acts if case the Government fails to do the needful at the earliest.
