'VDF personnel supplying SP tablets to youths'

The local clubs and meira paibis of Top Khongnangkhong has alleged that some of the VDF personnel who are deployed at the outpost here has been supplying SP tablet to the youths of the area and demanded the removal of its post from the area.
A sit in protest was also carried out at Top Khongnangkhong ground today organized by the Nisha Thingba Lup and local meira paibis.
Speaking to reporters, Robindro, president of Apunba Nisha Thingba Lup said that the VDF post has been in this area for the last two years.
Samir, VDF personnel has been supplying SP tablets to the youths of Top Khongnangkhong area for quite some time.
A number of VDF personnel are also regular user of SP teblets.
Samir was caught red handed on the 10th of September while he was supplying SP tablets to a youth in Top Khongnangkhong but he escaped.
The youth was detained by the club members.
He further went on to say that the VDF personnel of the Top Khongnangkhong post instead of controlling drug abuse in the area have been obstructing anti drug abuse campaign by clubs and meira paibis.
Instances of robbery and shop lifting have increased in the area.
The government should remove this outpost or deploy VDF personnels who does not use drugs.
Meanwhile, a drug (SP tablet) user was caught by the volunteers of Apunba Nisha Thingba Lup and handed over to AMADA today.
The person has been identified as one Md Riyaj (41) of Kshetrigao Makha Leikai.
96 pieces of SP capsule and 3 pieces of N10 teblets were recovered from him.
Speaking to media persons, K Meghachandra, Secretary Organisation and Co-ordination said that a combined team of Apunba Nisha Thingba Lup,Top Khongnangkhong, Anti Drug Association, Thambalkhong Sabal Leikai and Top Sagolshem Pukhri Mapal Women Development Association caught two persons along with 80 litres of country liquor.
The two persons have been identified as Ksh Meghachandra (38) and A Ratan (25) of Top Makha Leikai.
Meanwhile AMADA and Khari Apunba Meira Paibi Lup organized a meeting against drug abuse at Ghari yesterday.
The meeting was attended by M Padmini Leima, president AMADA, S Sanahanbi, President, Ghari Maning Meira Paibi Lup and Ph Phoni, Secretary, AMADA as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
