With displayed of around 39 metric tones of orange in 183 stalls, this year orange festival held at Lower Ground in Tamenglong district headquarter today.
The festival organized by the Tamenglong Organisation Growers Federation in association with the district administration was sponsored by the state horticulture and soil conservation department.
A total of 189 stall including 183 stalls displaying orange only and rest six stalls with handicraft products are taking part in the festival which was opened this afternoon with a function graced by vice chairman of the hill areas committee, MLA Khanthuanang Panmei as chief guest.
MLA of Tamenglong A/C, Awangbo Newmai presided over the function.

In his address as chief guest, Khanthuanang recalled that as customs of the land, farmers are growing orange as inheritance profession from the forefather.
Farmer did not used chemical fertilizers at the time growing the fruit.
They practice organic way of farming.
Now orange plants were found dying.
Despite government best effort, the effort to save these plants could not get positive results, the MLA observed appealing for a concerted effort to save the orange plant in the district.
He also informed that for saving orange plants, a fund amounting to Rs 3.6 crore has been earmarked under the multi-sectoral development.
The amount will be distributed to the farmers through the district administration.
Awangbo Newmai speaking as president of the function said even though the district is home to most taste and highly productive orange, Tamenglong district is most backward among the districts of the state.
So, he drew the attention of the state government in taking up steps for development the district.
Commissioner, Mosses Challai, DIG range-IV and brigadier Anil Chawhan of 57 Mountain division also attended the function as guest of honour.
Handing over prizes of first, second and third holders, cultural dance marked the inauguration function.
The festival was organized with a fund of Rs three lakhs but organizers said that with the cash awards to be paid to the Orange queen position holders, they incurred around Rs 18 lakh.
