Chqs meeting resolves to up highway security

A meeting of the combined headquarters was held today and it resolved to enhance security measures along Manipur section of Imphal-Dimapur highway.
Another key resolution of the meeting was introduction of biometric attendance system for cadres belonging to militant groups under SoO pact.
The Chqs meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Biren was attended by top officials of police, army, Assam Rifles, BSF, CRPF and other security agencies, informed a source.
The meeting deliberated on the recent militant attacks on convoys of oil tankers escorted by CRPF in Kangpokpi area where some drivers sustained injuries.
In addition to environmental security provided by Assam Rifles to convoys of oil tankers escorted by CRPF along Imphal-Dimapur highway, the meeting decided that Assam Rifles ,should patrol different sections of the highway for more hours.
The Chqs meeting discussed about facilitating effective coordination between police and other security agencies so as to make the highway secure.
It also deliberated on taking up more stringent security measures in order to thwart all kinds subversive and unlawful activities along the highway.
Meanwhile, following attacks on oil tanker convoys, security forces have been carrying out search operations in Kangpokpi areas on daily basis.
As decided at the meeting, biometric attendance system would be introduced at designated camps where cadres of SoO groups are housed in order to check the cadres from carrying out unwanted incidents outside their designated camps, informed the source.
The modality of taking biometric attendance would be worked out by security agencies.
The meeting further discussed about revising the State Government's surrender policy after taking into account opinions of different security agencies.
The meeting also reviewed the State's prevailing law and order situation.
