Kangpokpi, March 07 2019:
Kangpokpi civil society organizations under the aegis of Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi district decided to resort into extreme agitation if the abducted BIPL workers are not set free within two days and asked the State Home Department to put into action appropriate measures to rescue the trio.
The civil bodies' decision to serve the ultimatum was taken in a joint meeting held today Kangpokpi DHQs where a threadbare deliberation was organized over the issue while condemning the incident in the strongest term.
It also unanimously resolved to impose 24 hours blanket bandh along the National Highway-2 from midnight of March 9 till midnight of March 10 if the abducted trios are not released without any harm on humanitarian ground by Friday, Mar 8 .
Lamminlun Singsit, general secretary, Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi district said that in quest of quality and fine road, the people of Kangpokpi district put maximum efforts for the safety and protection of the road construction agency, BIPL ever since it started constructing the National Highway-2 as assured in a joint meeting before BIPL swung into action on the road.
He continued that thus far the BIPL workers are also laudably carrying out their roles and responsibilities.
He also said that even the SoO outfits operating in the area have been upholding the decision of civil bodies under the aegis of Kuki Inpi and no untoward incidents towards the BIPL workers have been reported so far.
However, the KIK general secretary said that the hard earned peaceful environment and all efforts made for the welfare of the people has been snubbed by the NSCN(R) by "abducting three BIPL workers on March 6" thereby underrating the hard efforts of Kangpokpi civil bodies.
He alleged that "the extremely underrating attitude of the NSCN(R) has deeply disappointed the people of Kangpokpi district".
He appealed the NSCN(R) to release the abducted trio within the stipulated time so as to avoid misunderstanding among communities and intense form of agitation against the outfit.
The Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi district also appealed the State Home Department to implement immediate measures to rescue the abducted trio within the stipulated time.
