Tekcham villagers protest

Villagers of Tekcham today took out a protest rally and staged sit-in-protest on NH-2 (Imphal-Moreh section) at Khongjom demanding the Government trace a one and half year old boy, who has been missing since December 1 .
Leisemba Phanjoubam s/o Ijouba alias Shyam of Tekcham Bazar went missing after he left his mother's vendor at Tekcham Bazar for their house to sleep with a four and half year old daughter of the boy's aunt at around 4.30 pm.
When enquired about the whereabouts of the boy to the said girl, she told to the family that Leisemba was sleeping when the girl left their house.
Leisemba was wearing gold ear rings of six chanings, gold jantra of six chanings, silver chains and khongji.
Although, locals of Tekcham Bazar have been searching for the boy from the day of his missing at the area and nearby localities, he could not be traced till today.
The locals constituted a Joint Action Committee in a public meeting presided by Tekcham Gram Panchayat Pradhan Langpoklakpam Phullojao Singh on December 3 .
A memorandum which mentioned the resolutions of the meeting was submitted to the Chief Minister, Home Minister, Education Minister, Social Welfare Minister, MLA Wangjing Tentha A/C and Thoubal DC and SP today.
The memorandum said that JAC would initiate different forms of agitation if the Government fails to trace the boy by 4 pm of December 5 .
A protest rally was taken out from Tekcham Bazar to Khongjom Bazar and staged a sit-in-protest at Khongjom community hall today.
Later, irate protesters shifted their demonstration to NH-2 alleging that police have failed to do the needful in the case.
The protesters blockaded half of the National Highway shouting slogans like 'Handover Leisemba to his parents', 'We condemn kidnapping of children' and 'Punish the culprits' etc.
