AR strikes its rich with UG arrest and warlike stores recovery

Imphal, December 04 2013 : Based on specific information regarding ferrying of illegal arms and ammunition along NH 102, troops of 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) apprehended an OGW of a UG group and two women who were moving in a suspicious vehicle yesterday.

According to a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S), the white coloured Tata Spacio registration number MN-02 A 5171 was stopped by the troops of 24 Assam Rifles and on a thorough check of the vehicle several war like stores including Five M4 A1 5.56mm Carbine (made in US) with two magazines and one handheld Kenwood Radio set were recovered.

The apprehendees were identified as Phalkholam (38) W/o Thangpao Haokip of B.Vengnom, Churachandpur; Dimkhoneng (43) W/o Thangsei of B Vaiphei Veng, Churachandpur and Thangsei (Driver of the white coloured TATA Spacio Registration No MN 02 A 5171), aged 44 years, S/o L.Thongkhojam of B Vaiphei Veng, Churachandpur.

Thangsei along with recovered items have been handed over to Imphal West Police Station.

Five US made M4 A1 5.56mm carbines with two magazines and one Kenwood radio set which were seized by Assam Rifles from Khudengthabi area on Tuesday

Meanwhile, troops of 9 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) apprehended four PREPAK cadres and one PREPAK (PRO) cadre in three separate operations in Moreh, Chandel yesterday.

Two PREPAK cadres were apprehended from Moreh Town and they were indentified as SS Capt Laishram Sanjeeva Singh, aged 31 years, S/o Laishram Yaishkul Singh, Vill- Kontha Ahallup Awang Leikai, PO-Mantripukhri, PS - Imphal East and SS Sgt Konjengbam Sanamacha Meitei, aged 31 years, S/o K Shyamkeshor Meitei, Vill - Haobam Marak Irom Leikai, PO & PS- Singjamei and Dist � Imphal West.

The other two PREPAK cadres were apprehended from Dalpatti, Ward No 2, Moreh and they have been identified as No.41050262 SS Pvt Kangabam Roshan Singh alias Pebaton, aged 24 yrs, S/o Late Kangabam Gago Singh, Vill � Bramahapur Thangapat Mapal, PO � Bapura, PS & Dist - Imphal East and No 3906240 SS Pvt Nameirakpam Ranjit Meitei alias Loya, aged 22 yrs, S/o Late Nameirakpam Sanatomba Meitei, Vill- Bishnupur, PS/Dist � Bishnupur.

One Beretta pistol loaded with 3 live rounds and one revolver loaded with 03 live rounds were recovered from the apprehendees.

The PREPAK (PRO) cadre was apprehended from Pangal Basti, Ward No 5, Moreh and he has been identified as No 38889 SS Pvt G Sandeep alias Lanthaba, aged 20 yrs, S/o Late Ganesh, Vill - Moreh Ward No � 3, PO/PS � Moreh, Dist - Chandel.

All five cadres have been handed over to Imphal West Police Station.

On the other hand, troops of 18 SIKH of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) launched an operation in general area Patsoi-I under Imphal West district and apprehended one PLA cadre on 03 Dec 2013.He was identified as No 2352, SS 2nd Lt Sorokhaibam Khoiba Singh alias Lemba, aged 40 yrs, S/o S Ibobishak Singh, resident of Hangun Awang Leikai.

One 9mm pistol with five live rounds of 9mm was recovered from his possession.

The apprehendee along with the recovered items has been handed over to Patsoi Police Station, the statement added.
