Imphal, December 04 2013 :
A driver and handyman of an Oil Tanker sustained minor injuries when their tanker met an accident along National Highway 2 between Changoubung and Kangpokpi at around 8.30 this morning.
The ill-fated tanker bearing Regd No MN01-7900 was heading towards Imphal when it met with the accident, according to police source.
The injured driver and the handyman were given medical treatment at CHC, Kanggui with the help of Kangpokpi Police.
Eyewitnesses said that the oil tanker fell down in a gorge while trying to avoid the huge potholes in the middle of the road.
Significantly, an Alto car met the same fate with the same reason at this particular place where an employee of DRDA, Senapati sustained serious head injury on Oct 25 .
Even as the National Highway 2 becomes a threat to many innocent lives, the locals instead of extending help to those ill-fated vehicles took advantages of situation as was evident in today's accident.
Locals instead of lending a helping hand to the vehicle operators and the busy police personnel, they took the advantages of the situation and were busy in collecting the leaked petrol from the oil tanker.
Vehicles swarmed the area waiting their turn to buy the collected fuel at lower price! .
On learning the incident, Kanggui Police led by its OC, L Vaiphei shooed them away from the spot.
