Workshop on Solar Mini Grid held

A day long workshop on Solar Mini Grid for Rural Electrification and Economic Development organized by Ark Finance India at Classic Hotel here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Lamkhomang Kipgen, Weaker Section Development Society, Manipur stated that if works of solar mini grid are taken up in far flung areas of hills where electric lines are out of reach then the problem of shortage of electricity could be solved considerably.
He said the Weaker Section Development Society in collaboration with Ark Finance India has been planning to take up solar mini grid works since the last few years but prior permission from the government and public is required to implement the work.
He went on to inform that an estimated Rs 10 lakhs will be incurred to take up the solar mini grid work in a village with 30 households.
Today's workshop was also attended by Christopher Neidl, programme manager of Ark Finance India; Michael Tuckwell, technical advisor of Micro Grid; Dr SP Gonchaudhuri, director of Development Consultant Private Group and representatives of MANIREDA and NGOs.
