Imphal, December 04 2013 :
Even as the Prime Minister's office has convened a meeting to discuss the issues of border trade and Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Moreh on December 6, construction of Moreh ICP has commenced again after remaining suspended for some time.
Moreh ICP is among 13 ICPs to be set up by the Centre at different parts of the country through Land Port Authority of India of Union Ministry of Home Affairs to enhance border trade with neighbouring countries.
It may be mentioned that construction of Moreh ICP was suspended some time back due to land encroachment protest from Myanmar authority.
However, ground levelling works on 45.50 acre of land located near Moreh Gate No1 have commenced again.
Meanwhile, Advisor to Prime Minister, PK Naik has convened a meeting to discuss the matter of construction of ICP at Moreh and border trade at the Prime Minister's office on December 6, said an official source.

The report submitted by the high level committee headed by Commerce and Industries Principal Secretary O Nabakishore would also be discussed during the meeting, added the source.
The committee was constituted during PK Naik's visit to the State in May this year.
O Nabakishore would attend the meeting which would be conducted in the presence of the officials from Assam Rifles and Home Ministry. Although India and Myanmar are undergoing trade on 40 items between Moreh and Tamu, India is putting in constant effort to change border trade into normal trade.
On the otherhand, intense checkings are being enforced by Assam Rifles and police along Imphal-Moreh route.
Assam Rifles troops frisk the travellers and traders by even taking down all their items from their respective vehicles at Khudengthabi and Tengnoupal.
The troops even asked the travellers to cross their Post on foot at Khudenthabi and they also emborse 'checking-marks' on the hands of the drivers.
At some points of the National Highway, Manipur Rifles and IRB personnel also charge entry fees from the vehicles.
Meanwhile, another source said that a team of 22 officials of the State Settlement Department is surveying land to set up a new 3000-acre township near Moreh.
