SCS, Wangoi celebrates B'day

The fourth foundation day of Senior Citizens for Society, Wangoi Branch was celebrated yesterday at Wangoi Keithel.
MLA of Wangoi AC, O Lukhoi, vice-president of SCS Manipur and ex-Minister RV Mingthing, secretary of SCS Advocate Khaidem Mani, SCS executive member H Yaima and Wahengbam (O) Maipakpi, wife of ex-CM (L) W Nipamacha attended the programme as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Presentation of gifts to senior citizens and offering of floral tribute at the photograph of ex-CM (L) W Nipamacha marked the function.
Speaking at the occasion, O Lukhoi said that people had ignored senior citizens earlier.
But now situation has come to such a pass that many issues of the State could not be solved without consulting the senior citizens.
Even the State Govt has started consulting senior citizens who have vast experiences in many fields.
The MLA further said that expansion work of the Wahengbam Leikai-Kakching road will begin soon following the approval of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to convert Mayai Lambi (road) to NH-137A.He said that the Ministry has completed selecting consultancy firm to prepare the DPR for the work.
Saying that the office of SCS at Wangoi will be affected by the road expansion work, O Lukhoi said that arrangement has been made to set up the office at a suitable location.
The MLA also inaugurated a renovated field.
RV Mingthing said that the State should be developed through the bond of unity between the hill and valley.
He said that hill-valley unity cannot be achieved with mere rhetoric but through real display of love.
