Ban on railway construction works lifted temporarily

The JAC of Makhuam (Marangching) village has temporarily revoked its ban on railway construction works (chainage no 89.674 to 98.000) in the jurisdiction of Marangching village, following the release of All Makhuam/Marangching Y outh Club president Gonchalung Gangmei on December 31.The ban on the construction works from chainage no 99.000, will however, continue to be enforced, a statement informed.
A decision to this effect was reached at a meeting held on January 1.The JAC resolved to allow construction works from January 1 onwards.
The JAC also resolved to urge upon the State Government and Northern Railway authorities to conduct a re-survey of the affected land in accordance with the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Resettlement and Rehabilitation Act 2013 .
It urged State Government to drop the FIR registered against the villagers of Marangching and also to lift prohibitions imposed in Marangching village under CrPC 144 .
The JAC, demanding implementations of the aforementioned demands on or before January 10, said it will review its ban in case of failure to fulfil the same demands.
