TSE staff wins award

Eveninger Kangleipaki Meira has conferred this year's best male journalist award (print media) on The Sangai Express sports journalist Mayanglambam Romen.
The award was presented at the 33 rd foundation day of
the newspaper held at Manipur Press Club today.
Best female journalist award (print media), best journalist award (electronic media) and best appreciated IPR personnel (news) were presented to Babina Elangbam of Sanaleibak, Noren Ningom-bam of ISTV and Ph Seitya-mala respectively.
Best correspondent (Bishnupur) was given to Golmei Solomon and best correspondent (Thoubal) to T Rabi while best dutiful reporter award to Yambem Priyojit (Kangleipaki Meira), best photo journalist award to Oinam Deepak and best hawker awards to Chirom Biren of Tera Loukrakpam Leikai and Sapatn Guneshwar of Khongjom Sapam.
The 33rd foundation day cum award presentation function was graced by Heingang AC MLA N Biren as chief guest, Directorate of Information and Public Relations Director Somorjit Salam as president and CADA Additional Chief Engineer K Monoranjan and Agriculture Department former Director L Palendro as guests of honour.
Speaking at the occasion, N Biren said that the State now needs a new legislation to protect its territorial integrity.
Every leader who wish to contest State Assembly election must ask themselves first how far they are willing to sacrifice for the motherland and work for the people.
It would be wrong to compromise in State issues to appease a group or community, he said.
The MLA further said that indigenous people are unable to live peacefully and enjoy their rights now due to past compromises.
Regarding journalism, the MLA observed that excessive commercialisation would only degrade the state of journalism, which has been known as the watchdog of the Government and society.
Saying that every media persons must uphold the ethics of journalism, the MLA said that capitalists and wealthy persons must not be allowed to control the media in the State.
