The Joint Coordination Demand Committee of Employment Under Die In Harness Scheme staged a sit-in today at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai Community Hall .
The committee said that if the Govt does not give jobs to the 677 applicants under the die in harness scheme by Sep 30, then the committee will lock the doors of Govt buildings and offices as well as impose general strikes .
While talking to media persons at the sit-in, general secretary of the committee, Maibam Sanjit said that the Govt had declared 677 applicants to be eligible for jobs under the die in harness scheme as per an order on May 12, 2016.But the Govt gave jobs to 150 persons who are not among the approved applicants under the same scheme .
He further said that the families of those who died in harness have been suffering for the last 20 years.
Some of the applicants have crossed the upper age limit for Govt jobs and some have even passed away in the meanwhile.
There is a provision of 20% of the jobs under this scheme.
Even if the resolution was taken by the earlier Govt, the current Govt should be the one to implement it .
He also said that the committee had also brought up the issue on Meeyamgi Numit as well as submitted a memorandum to the CM but to no avail.
The Chief Secretary has also said that he cannot act unless ordered by the CM to do so in this regard .
He warned of launching agitation unless the Govt acts to fulfil their demand.
