Identity cards for PLHIV released

The District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU), Churachandpur, launched unique Identity Cards for People Living with HIV (PLHIV), to enable them to avail better access to health, financial and social sector schemes .
A press release issued by the DC, Churachandpur, stated that the ID cards were released in a simple function by the Churachandpur DC, Shyam Lal Poonia, in the presence of ADC Churachandpur Chairman, Khaipao Haokip, CMO Churachandpur, Dr Kim Simte, DACO Churachandpur, Dr Romeo Sanate and representatives and clients from TI-NGOs at the DC office .
Speaking at the event, Shyam Lal Poonia, stressed on the need to eliminate discriminatory behaviour towards PLHIVs and appealed to the people to provide a suitable environment for the PLHIVs .
He also urged the Government agencies and the CSOs to play supportive roles in helping the PLHIVs avail the benefits and entitlements available under different social and financial sector schemes .
While highlighting the importance of the ID cards for the PLHIVs, Dr Romeo Sanate informed those present, of the various initiatives undertaken by DAPCU in association with partner TI-NGOs holder welfare of PLHIVs .
He also informed that with the help of Churachandpur DC, 100 cards have been distributed to the concerned individuals .
He explained that through sustained efforts, they have been able to get assurance from private medical facility providers for concession in various clinical tests and procedures for the PLHIVs .
Khaipao Haokip appreciated the efforts of the District Administration and appealed to the people to come forward for inclusive development in all spheres.
