All necessary ground works for construction of a regional centre of the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University would be completed within September 15, said Education Minister L Jayantakumar.
The State Government has earmarked around 500 acres of land for the regional centre at Makhan village, 12 kms East of NH 39 in Senapati district.
Due procedures for acquisition of land and payment of compensation have been already initiated.
Vice Chancellor of the IGNTU CV Singh would be arriving at Imphal on August 30 to inspect the site selected for the regional centre, Jayantakumar said.
However, no final decision has been taken on the faculties that would be opened in the regional centre.
However, the Government is planning to open at least three faculties in the first phase, the Minister said.
He further conveyed that he has conducted a spot enquiry at the site selected for the regional centre at Makhan village this morning together with TD Minister DD Thaisii, Education Commissioner Shambhu and other officials.
