The Assam Rifles operation in Keithalmanbi on August 11 was carried out strictly as per standard operating procedures, said a statement issued by PIB(DW).
Based on the information provided by apprehended TPLA home secretary Nekhomang Singsit alias Mang, a search was carried out at the residence of Koikal Singsit in Keithalmanbi by a joint team of Assam Rifles and Imphal West police commandos on August 11 .
The search was carried out in the presence of three family members.
The search yielded one AK-56 weapons and 12 live rounds which were concealed under the firewood in the backyard of the house.
On recovery of the weapon the police requested the eldest lady who was 52-year old to sign a "No Objection Certificate" in which she was to certify that the residents were not harassed by the security forces and there was no property damage, the statement said.
The woman then claimed that she and her elder daughter who is 23 years are illiterate.
Therefore, she asked her 16-year old daughter to sign on her behalf.
All of them were explained about the "No Objection Certificate" in Manipuri by the personnel of State police present.
The younger daughter signed the certificate on the behest of her mother and also acknowledged that the weapon was recovered from their house during the search.
The security forces were polite to all civilians during the search operation and did not misbehave with women at any point, the statement further said.
TPLA, a newly non-SoO insurgent group has been indulging in petty crimes including extortion activities, harassment of general public and disturbing the peaceful environment in Sadar Hills area.
Joint efforts of the State police and Assam Rifles initiated during the last few months have a crippled the movement of the group.
Security forces are committed to ensure that the State returns to normalcy at the earliest and will continue its relentless operations to curb illegal activities of any group which harasses the general public, the statement added.
It also requested the people to co-operate in its endeavour to usher an environment of peace and tranquility in Manipur.
