Hunger strike on against crimes on women

Imphal, November 28 2011:
Pressing the state government to put a stop to all the crimes and violence committed to women in Manipur at various spheres of the society, a hunger strike which is to be carried out till December 12 initiated by the Women Help Group commenced today at Nupilal Complex.
The hunger strike which commenced at Nupilal Complex today was shifted at the office of the Women Help Group at Keishampat Sega Road and will conclude at Nupilal Complex on December 12 .
Speaking to reporters, Arambam Robita, Secretary of Women Help Group said that there seems no be no authority to look into the matter of the crimes and violence committed against women.
The government has so far never taken up any issue concern with violence against women and come up with a solution.
No culprit has been given suitable punishment and the victim given justice.
The present Manipur State Commission for Women needs to be strengthened.
She further went on to say that the number of male killed by armed personnel has decreased but the number of females killed by males is increasing in the state.
