Govt officials penalised for superceding Minister

Cracking the whip to rein in senior officers, the State Government has placed under suspension Commissioner BB Sharma and Under Secretary Lal Thanglun Guite for granting recognition to 95 villages under Sadar Hills by Hills Department without the knowledge of the Minister concerned.
The recognition was granted in violation of the provisions under Manipur (Hill Areas), District Council (Third Amendment) Act, 2008, averred the Government spokesman and IFCD Minister N Biren while briefing the media on the Cabinet meeting held today.
On the other hand, though the price of Kerosene has been hiked all over India, the State Cabinet has decided to exempt the Value Added Tax (VAT) in the interest of the poor people.
The spokesman said that the 5 percent VAT charged by the State Government on Kerosene earlier would be exempted and the price of the Kerosene will be at the rate fixed by the company.
Today's Cabinet meeting has also decided to forgo with the interview process in connection with recruitment of graduate teachers under Rashriya Madyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and make the final selection on the basis of the marks in the academic records of the candidates, the Govt spokesperson said, while explaining that the decision has been taken to give no room for any manipulation over the 5 marks allotted for interview.
The final result of the recruitment would be announced after examination of the health condition of the candidates by a State Medical Board, the spokesperson added.
