Buyer-seller meet held

A one-day street vendors development programme (buyer-seller meet) was organised today at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound.
The meet was organised jointly by Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Micro-Small and Medium Enterprises-DI, Imphal.
The programme was attended by Principal Secretary (Com and Ind) O Nabakishore, Deputy Director In-charge, MSME-DI, Th Baite; Dr Ibohal Meitei of MIMS, MU; Deputy Commandant of CRPF, Langjing Joshua; and W Nabachandra of Indo-Myanmar Border Trade as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, O Nabakishore observed that the moneyed class in Manipur prefers contract works to venturing in or starting industries.
He also noted that only handloom sector is found to be profitable in the small scale industries in Manipur.
Recounting the success story of Shija Hospital and Babina Clinics, Nabakishore exhorted the gatherings to take risk in industries.
Stating that the Manipur Government is seriously promoting food processing and textile industries, he said fruit industry and fruit juice packaging is a success in the State.
Dr Ibohal dwelt on the need to maintain quality in local products in order to compete in the global market.
