A huge mob stormed KM Blooming School yesterday at about 10.30 pm and demolished the school furniture over the death of a 13 year old student of the school.
According to police sources, a large number of people from Wangkhei who came in two buses and two-wheelers crash opened the school gate at around 10.30 pm yesterday and vandalised a few furniture.
A police team led by Additional SP Madhunimai arrived later at the site and controlled the situation.
KM Blooming School Chairman Khundrakpam Menjor Mangang said Leishangthem Kishan (13), s/o Bheirot, a standard VIII student and boarder of the school, was sent home during school examinations on March 17 after his health condition deteriorated.
Before the school examinations began on March 16, Kishan took leave from the boarding from March 6 and returned on March 14, the Chairman stated adding that all the school staff are saddened by the sudden demise.
Meanwhile, DESAM, in a statement has questioned the school authority why it failed to inform the parents of the 13 year old on time.
Kishan was allegedly in serious condition when the family took him to JNIMS hospital on March 17.Doctors declared that Kishan had jaundice and his haemoglobin count was extremely low (3.1).The 13-year-old breathed his last at the hospital after a few hours of treatment.
The student body has urged the State Government especially the Department of Education to form an enquiry committee to investigate the matter.
It has further appealed the Government to frame a policy for boarding/hostel to avoid such unfortunate incident in the future.
