Imphal, March 15 2014 :
Categorically rejecting charges by the locals of not completing assigned task, sub-contractor concerned Yuimi Horam said development of the 16-km long Razai Khunou to Chingjaroi Christian village road under Ukhrul district has been completed within the specified period of 18 months.
Addressing the media at Babupara today, Yuimi said there had been slight delay in executing the road development work assigned to contractor Jesse Kamei by the Manipur State Rural Road Development Agency in October 2010 due to certain legal issues.
With three special contractors filing a case in the Gauhati High Court challenging handing over of the said work project smooth implementation of the assignment was under cloud for sometime, said Yuimi who nevertheless asserted that after two of the petitioners withdrew the case and the third duly refunded his 'deposit package' the same work resumed.
However, the third contractor reapproached the Court leading to convening of a special meeting at Chingjaroi Khullen village wherein Minister concerned Francis Ngajokpa, MLA MK Preshow Shimray and councillor/headman of the host village were present.
With the consent of the those present at the meeting the road development work continued and was completed within the 18 months deadline, he informed while adding that case filed by the third contractor had little impact as an order of the Government authorised Jesse Kamei to execute the project.
