Senapati, January 14 2019:
The United Naga Council (UNC) has decreed that it will oppose Gaikhangam, former Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur and sitting MLA from Nungba Assembly Constituency, from gracing the 7th Rongmei Baptist Youth Conference as the chief guest on January 18, 2019 at Zeikhuluang village, Churachandpur district for "his anti-Naga activities" .
The UNC, however, clarified that it does not "oppose" the conference.
Meanwhile the UNC has "directed" the Naga frontal organizations, "tribe hohos" and the Naga public under its jurisdiction to strictly enforce and observe resolution number 3 of the October 29, 2015 "presidential council meeting" .
As per that resolution, "any Naga MLA/Minister who works against the established and registered Naga political position shall not be allowed to enter Naga territories" under the UNC jurisdiction.
In a statement made available to Newmai News Network tonight, the UNC reminded the Naga people, "as declared by the Naga people on August 23, 2018 at Tahamzam village (Senapati headquarters) anyone defying the Naga political principle and its position shall be treated as anti National and their entry shall be banned in Naga territory." The UNC directed the Naga organizations under its jurisdiction to strictly enforce the decree.
"Therefore, all concerned are hereby directed to strictly enforce the collective decision of the Naga people in their respective jurisdiction.
UNC shall not be held responsible for any consequences," it asserted.
The UNC said that, after many decades of "ceaseless arms struggle for self determination, the lndo-Naga Cease Fire Agreement was signed between the Government of India and the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) on July 25, 1997 which came into effect on August 1,1997 and the historic Indo-Naga Framework Agreement was signed on August 3, 2015 in New Delhi to settle the long drawn lndo-Naga political issue for bringing logical conclusion based on unique history and situation of the Nagas" .
