FCI staffers protest incentive hold-up

Demanding percentage based allowance/perks to Category III and IV personnel of Food Corporation of India (FCI) under 'Cafeteria' approach, a protest demonstration was staged by the employees in front of the Yaiskul Police Lane office of FCI today.
According to T Akhup Kom, secretary of FCI Executive Staff Union, Central Committee District, Category III and IV employees of the Corporation are yet to reap the real benefit of the 6th Pay Commission's pay hike as 40 percent of basic allowances has not been released till date.
Contrary to release of the allowances to Category I and II employees consequent to the pay hike effected in January 1, 2007, decision was taken to stage the demonstration against the Government of india, he said.
As a part of the agitation programme drawn up by the Committee at the national level, a similar protest would be staged before regional offices of FCI on April 17, said the secretary adding that protest would also be staged from April 20 till May 3 in front of the FCI headquarters in New Delhi.
Informing FCI Manipur branch has a total of 52 district Staff and 18 officers, Akhup also mentioned that on May 4 a one-day token strike would be organised at the FCI godown.
Other demands of the employees include additional sanction of staff, immediate implementation of MACP Scheme New Pension Scheme, post retirement medical scheme, payment of retirement dues, regularisation of casual workers who have crossed 20 years of service, special recruitment drive for Category III and IV for hilly States like J&K, Himachal Pradesh and NE States from local candidates, etc.
