Shija performs kidney transplant of Myanmar patient

Yet again for the first time in NE India, Shija has performed the first kidney transplant of an international patient from Mandalay, Myanmar, said a statement of Dr Palin Kh, Chairman cum Managing Director Shija Hospitals and Research Institute (SHRI).
Yin i Myo, the 42 year old woman from Mandalay was admitted at Shija Hospital on Dec 6, 2019 and team of doctors led by Dr Somorendro P, Consultant Urologist and Renal Transplant Surgeon and Dr Guliver P, Consultant Nephrologist conducted the kidney transplant surgery the next day.
She was discharged from the hospital in a stable condition on December 30, said the statement.
Shija Hospitals has been treating many patients from Myanmar and has attracted more than 1,974 Myanmarese medical tourists since the border crossing was allowed on August 8, 2018.So far, 262 Myanmarese patients have undergone major surgeries including open heart surgeries, joint replacement, kidney transplantation, brain tumour, spine surgeries, eye care and cosmetic surgeries etc, it added.
