Shift AR post from MU : MUSU to CM

A team of Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister N Biren Singh today, containing various demands ranging from shifting of the Assam Rifles from inside the university campus to establishment of off-campus sites of the university at the hill districts to improve the relation between the hills and the valley.
A statement issued by the president of MUSU conveyed that the memo drew the attention of the Chief Minister to do the needful and shift the Assam Rifles away from the university campus.
MUSU highlighted the necessity of shifting the army post to a suitable place, Heibok Ching, which has already been surveyed.
It also appealed to the CM to demilitarise Manipur University and bring a peaceful academic atmosphere inside the campus.
The student union urged the CM to provide suitable sites for the establishment of off-campus sites of the university at the hill districts of the State so as to uphold the age-old close relations between the hills and the valley.
MUSU appealed the CM to co-operate with the varsity in developing the palace of Maharaja Gambir Singh to make it a shrine of education with historical importance as well as a tourist hotspot in the future.
It also stressed on the need for a foot over bridge and a traffic police stand in-front of the university main gate in order to reduce frequent accidents in the area.
