Imphal, September 08 2018:
The Information Centre for Hill Areas Manipur (ICHAM) and Committee on Protection of Indo-Myanmar Borderland, Manipur (CPIMBM) have claimed that it is unfortunate that Kwatha Village Authority has been trying to tarnish the reputation of the two associations.
Speaking to media persons at ICHAM office at Kekrupat today, its president Yuimi Horam clarified that it is true Kwatha Village Authority members along with ICHAM and CPIMBM met Chief Minister N Biren Singh on August 31 regarding the Border Pillar 81 issue.
He said that the associations questioned the CM about the failure of the Central team, which went to Kwatha Khunou on July 25, to come back to Manipur after a period of one month.
At that time, the CM explained that the State Government was powerless to do anything as the issue involved two countries and added that the Joint Secretary of Ministry of External Affairs had went to Myanmar and a clear solution might be visible after the Joint Secretary returns, Yuimi added.
The CM further assured to construct roads at Kwatha Khunou and a guest house as well.
However, the associations did not put forward any points regarding the transfer of Tengnoupal DC Tombikanta during the meeting, Yuimi claimed and added that it is rather unfortunate that a press release issued by Kwatha Village Authority attempted yo show ICHAM and CPIMBM in the wrong light.
Yuimi clarified that ICHAM and CPIMBM are not spokespersons for the Government nor are the two associations affiliated to the Government in any way.
On the other hand, CPIMBM convenor D Solomon alleged that the incident reeks of pressure from a higher authority.
Representatives of Kwatha Village Authority were present during the meeting with the CM but they did not bring up anything about the transfer of Tombikanta during the meeting, he clarified.
In reality, ICHAM and CPIMBM have been working towards protection of-the State boundaries since 2012 .
The associations have also stood steadfast against any attempt to harm the State's territory but the actions of Kwatha Village Authority is immensely unfortunate, he added.
