Student bodies set Aug 30 deadline

Warning to launch intense agitations if all concerned from lower school to college level of the Jiribam Sub-Division under Imphal East District do not act accordingly, four student bodies of Jiribam (AMSU, MSF, DESAM and KSA) have appealed Education Minister to look into the matter, and set August 30 as deadline for the same.
Addressing a press meet at the office of AMSU District Committee Jiribam today, the student bodies said that lower school to college level of the sub-division have not acted accordingly to their longtime demands till today.
Some of the demands were, the deficient in teachers of Jiribam should be filled up, those teachers utilised away from the schools already deficient in teachers should be brought back by August 30, stern action will be taken against those absentee teachers who only see the salary if they do not attend school, the deficient in teachers in the Jiribam Govt Hr Sec School should be filled, the student bodies added.
They went on to say that it was also included in the demand that the four teachers included in the memorandum submitted to the Education Minister on August 2 namely Chabungbam Shomita Devi, W Rebika Devi, S Saraju Devi and Somorendro Mukherjee, who have not attended school for many years and who only see salary but not the career of the students, should not be allowed to enter the school anymore.
The student bodies warned of any consequence if the mentioned teachers come to the school, and appealed the Education Minister to look into the matter.
Teachers appointed by the Manipur Govt do not attend their respective schools at present, they do not teach as they are used under utilisation after negotiation with higher officials.
Therefore, the teachers used away under utilisation should be re-posted back at their respective schools by the concerned authorities by August 30, else the four student bodies in association with people will launch intense movement.
The student bodies also demanded to convert the only college of Jiribam i.e.Jiri College into a Govt College.
The press meet was attended by Y Sanjit Singh, President AMSU District Committee; M Nilkamal Singh, President MSF Special Branch; Babuloo and Romio of DESAM Local Council; and Sorojit of KSA Jiribam Unit.
