Tamenglong disabled persons have their day

The Tamenglong Disables' Association on Thursday observed its 5th foundation day at Shikinuh-Inn, Tamenglong district HQs.
During the observance, the disabled persons praised the God and displayed their talent.
Joseph Pauline, MCS, ADM of Tamenglong and Dr Chambo Gonmei, Chif Medical Officer, Tamenglong were respectively chief guest and president of the function which was also attended by Gaidonlong, Zonal Education Officer, Tamenglong and L Ibomcha Singh, District Social Welfare Officer, Tamenglong as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Joseph Pauline said that many government facilities are being provided to disabled persons.
However, selection of disabled persons under housing scheme in DRDA Tamenglong is very less.
"It might be due to lack of awareness", he noted.
The chief guest also released a pamphlet 'Know your Rights' written by Kinderson Pamei, Human Right Activist, on the occasion.
In his speech, Gaidonlong mentioned that the department has appointed 11 special teachers to teach disabled students.
There are many provisions for the disabled person in all the government department specially under SSA Tamenglong, he said.
He also announced that the department will be organising assessment camp in all the blocks of Tamenglong in the near future.
L Ibomcha Singh spoke at length on the rights of the disabled persons.
Dr Chambo Gonmei also spoke on the occasion.
