Sushila, Pinky, Lily, Sanarik return home to hero's welcome

Four women hockey players from the state in the Indian team, namely Pukhrambam Sushila Chanu (team captain); Th Pinky Devi (defender); Ningombam Sanarik Chanu (goalkeeper) and Mayengbam Lily Chanu (mid-filder) returned home today after clinching the country's first ever bronze medal in the junior women hockey world cup.
On their arrival at Tulihal Imphal Airport here today morning, a host of people including officials of Manipur Hockey, hockey players, local clubs and associations, fans, family members extended a warm welcome to the four ace junior hockey players.
Under the captainship of Sushila, the national junior hockey team edged out England 3-2 on penalties in the third-fourth place play-off match of the recently concluded seventh FIH Junior World Cup in Monchengladbach, Germany.
Speaking about the feat, Sushila told to reporters, "the pressure in the bronze medal match was heavy and but we were confident of winning a medal.
Being a skipper, I told my teammates that it is vital to adhere to discipline before the play, and that worked in setting the record".
