Imphal, May 04 2017:
Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) has suspended its proposed public curfew and general strike against the alleged irregularities in the ongoing evaluation of answer sheets of Class X examination conducted by BOSEM following assurance given by the State Government that necessary steps will be taken up to punish all the tainted teachers involved in the scam once the inquiry committee constituted in this regard completes its investigation.
Announcing this in a press meet held at its office at Konjeng Hazari Leikai here today, KSA general secretary Sukham Bidyananda informed that a representative of KSA met Chief Minister N Biren and Education Minister Th Radheshyam yesterday evening wherein the Ministers gave the assurance.
He, however, cautioned that the association will continue with its proposed different modes of agitation if the assurance is not put into action at the earliest.
He asked those revolting teachers to immediately stop misleading other fellow teachers and not tarnish the teaching profession by their unethical practices.
He urged the Government to implement an effective recruitment policy for teachers so that such unethical practices do not crop up in future.
Dismissing the claim made by those revolting teachers that KSA in collusion with some BOSEM officials had spelt out the irregularities in the evaluation process, Bidyananda contended that many disparities in BOSEM came to the fore after the association acquired a copy of Recruitment Rules of the Board.
The association had taken the copy to ascertain the contents of the Recuritment Rules 6f BOSEM.
he clarified.
Referring to the statement made by BOSEM Secretary yesterday, he asked as to why one Maths paper examiner Tekcham Amubi had brought handwritings of 16 students of his tuition centre to see whether the handwritings match with other handwritings on the answer sheets.
He also asked why the BOSEM Secretary did not lodge an FIR against the examiner immediately and why the latter was handed over to police only later.
Observing that many lapses and wrongdoings witnessed in education is due to the absence of State Education Policy in the State, he said that KSA will keep a tight vigil against such acts in future as well.
It may be mentioned that KSA had accused Tekcham Amubi of Peace and Freedom Academy, Thoubal of trying to replace some pages from an answer sheet with new ones.
