DC imposes new containment measures, curbs on shops in Thoubal

Thoubal, May 03 2021:
The Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal, in a statement issued today, declared stringent containment measures in selected geographical areas under Thoubal district in a bid to control the surge of COVID-19 infection in the second wave.
The measures includes sealing of the geographical areas, ban of entry and exit of people from the containment areas, and initiating active surveillance of COVID-19 cases.
Containment measures were imposed at the residential complex of, Moirangthem Leimahal of Heirok part III, Nahakpam Babulin of Lamding Nashikhong, Sorokhaibam Amu of Lamding Cherapur, Khundrakpam Manisana of Khangabok Part III and Moirangthem Geni of Athokpam Awang Leikai, it added.
It may be mentioned that 5 residents of different localities in Thoubal district were tested COVID-19 positive and in the view of the impending threat of COVID-19 pandemic in the areas, containment measures to prevent spread of the disease was necessitated.
The DC also informed that any person/institution/organisation found violating any of the containment measures would be punished as per the law.
Meanwhile, DC Thoubal district further imposed additional guidelines which includes- Retail markets/shops within Thoubal to open from 6am to 4pm on all days except Sunday; and restaurants/ tea stalls/street food vendors to be closed, except Home delivery service/takeaways.
