Aizawl, May 30:
Mizoram police today said Manipur's Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA) militants were indulging in extortion in the state's Champai district bordering Myanmar and not in any forcible recruitment.
A number of Paite youths had fled the district for fear of being forcibly recruited by the underground outfit but most of them returned to their villages after investigations revealed that the ZRA insurgents did not forcibly recruit boys from the north-eastern parts of Mizoram, the police said.
At least 66 Paite youths had fled Sesih village and 36 villagers of Mimbung who fled to Aizawl had returned to their villages, police said.
