The Believers� Church at Lamding under Thoubal district came under attacked yet again when unidentified gunmen opened fire at it last night.
Reports said that a Maruti gypsy packed with armed men came and started firing in the air late last night.
In this regard the church authorities of Manipur have submitted a memorandum to Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today to which a copy each was also given to Manipur DGP AK Prasar, the DIG (co-operation) and to the SP of Thoubal district.
A copy of the memorandum which was made available to NNN said that at around 11 pm unidentified gunmen fired around 40 rounds in the air in and around the church sending acute shock and panic to the people in the area.
Reports said that the people were running helter-skelter on hearing the gun-fire knowing that there had been another attack on the church of the area.
Last month, a huge mob had attacked the same church resulting in the injury of four people and the church was partially burnt down.
Today�s memorandum stated that one person was injured after he fell into a ditch while running in fear in last night�s incident.
The memorandum asked the Chief Minister to take up security measures following the repeated attack on the Believers� Church at Thoubal�s Lamding.
�Lamding Believers� Church and other victims of minority faiths approach your high office once again for providing protection timely to us from anti-people elemennts,� said the memorandum adding �inspite of repeated demands prompted by series of attack and threat to the minority people security measures are yet to be taken up in this regard�.
The memorandum appeals to the Chief Minister to open a regular security posts including that of CRPF.
It is pertinent to note that numerous attacks had been incurred on the Believers� Church of Lamding in the span of a few months time.
All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO) had series of meeting to address the situation arising out of the attacks on the church.
The Christian authorities had also approached various Christian organisations of India.
