Imphal, May 27 2020:
Decrying that a COVID-19 positive person staying at Community Quarantine Centre at Yairipok Universal College has not been shifted to hospital for hours, Wangkhem Assembly Constituency MLA K Meghachandra alleged that the State Government and health authority have failed to effectively carry out COVID-19 protocol.
Identifying absence of COVID-19 dedicated ambulance at the centre as one of the reasons for health authority failing to respond immediately and evacuate the patient to isolation ward of hospital concerned for necessary treatment, L Meghachandra said that the person was confirmed positive for COVID-19 early at around 1 am today and waited nearly 12 hours before evacuation to hospital.
The patient was shifted to hospital at around 1 pm from the quarantine centre, claimed L Meghachandra.
Further terming the lapses in the management on the part of the health authority in a war like situation amid COVID-19 pandemic as "pathetic and unfortunate," the MLA said that the State Government and Health Department should take up measures to effectively respond and contain the virus.
Even though the district has reported 6 COVID-19 cases, there is no dedicated ambulance at the quarantine centres, he said demanding ambulance and appealing for quick response of the health authority in future.
