Cong ready for SpeakUp campaign

The State Congress Party is endorsing the Congress' "SpeakUp" campaign on May 28 to raise the voice of the poor, migrants and small businesses during COVID-19, said ex-CM Ibobi.
Stating that poor, daily wage earners, small business operators and migrant workers are facing the brunt of the months long lockdown due to COVID-19, Ibobi said "SpeakUp" is an online campaign Congress launched for relief to the poor.
Under the campaign, Congress is demanding Rs 10,000 and 5/6 kilograms of rice per household.
Apart from providing safe travel to their respective homes, the migrant workers, MGNREGS workers should be provided 200 working days instead of 100 days work.
MPCC (Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee) president Moirangthem Okendra said the Congress through the campaign is appealing Prime Minister Narendra Modi to allocate Rs 10,000 per household of migrant workers and the poor from the Rs 20 lakh crore relief package announced recently.
He further stressed that increasing MGNREGS work days to 200 from 100 would provide the workers extra income and help them cope with the COVID-19 lockdown fallouts.
MPCC, DCC and BCC and all party workers will be launching the campaign tomorrow, he said urging people to support and voice their concern for the poor and migrant workers affected by COVID-19 lockdown.
